Scratch Tips

There is no manual yet for Scratch. Here some tips for getting started...

Opening Scratch


To start Scratch, double-click
on the Scratch (mouse) icon.

 

 

Currently there is no way to directly open a Scratch project.
You first must start Scratch, and then open your project.

 

Note: When opening Scratch, if you get a message that says
" SQUEAK: Please select an image file..."
then the program wants to know which version of Scratch to open. To continue, double-click on a Scratch file that ends in the letters: ".image"


Start programming


Double-click
anywhere on a block (or stack of blocks) to run it.

Click the STOP button to stop everything that is running.
Click the star to create a new sprite.
Click the green flag to start every stack that begins with this block:

Getting Help



To get help in Scratch:

1.
First, click the question mark button on the toolbar

2. Then click on a block to find out what it does.
