Dead Zone Bilingual (English and Spanish) Kiosk

Developed For: Permanent attraction for Mississippi River Gallery at the Science Museum of Minnesota.

Learning Objective: Teach visitors about the cause and effect of human activity from Minnesota on down (i.e. runoff) on the Gulf of Mexico's Dead Zone.

LTC Staff Involved: Bryan Kennedy, Joshua Seaver

Key Features: In both English and Spanish, Flash animations, video and text help the visitor understand how fertilizer runoff feeds algae blooms in the Gulf of Mexico, leading to a depletion of oxygen and the death of large numbers of aquatic life.

R & D Challenges: To enclose a web resource in a kiosk that restricts a visitors access to outside websites and to the computer desktop. Manage and create two versions of a site in two different languages.
