MAIKOU's spring break

Spring break started on April 1 and lasted for a whole week. School-free for a whole week. How awesome is that. I know it's gonna rock. Admission Possible gave us a chance to go and visit college, just to see if we would like it or not. So on Monday, I went to visit the Universtiy of Wisconsin Lacrosse. I know for a fact that i wasn't allow to go away far for college, since my mommy gave me the talk about "not going to far" and riding to Lacrosse was sooo long. I was bored. Very bored. Anyway, when we got there I liked the place, it was a very nice environment. This student took us sightseeing and seeing the campus I was totally into it. But not so sure. Have to talk to my parents. I had a great time there but this one girl was totally getting on my nerves. Gosh, she is so selfish. Every question she ask was about her, and she was constantly asking question. I'm a person that can get annoyed easily. Very easily. Anyway so that was my Monday.
On Tuesday, I came to the science museum and we got to know something from different group that was in the ysc. Our Make-it team taught others how to do vocal cord cup and how to play our game-----> 3 peas in a pod. (which they

Wow I have not being in here for a while now. It has been the longest. To tell the truth, I actually miss writing in here. Well, sooooo many things had happen to me.
At school, we are to make our schedule for next year, and I'm having troubles with that. There are so many classes to choose from, it's so confusing. I don't know, but I put down: English 12 World Lit. IB; Physics IB; Psychology and Economy system for History; Calclus, Central Morning News and Adv. Gym for my electives. I hope I made the right classes, since my counsler can be mean when changing classes, but who cares about her. I got my mommy and daddy. Anyway, that out of the way, now I have to concetrate on my works, and getting decent grades. I can't wait until my friends and me are going to hang out. I haven't hang out with them for like a month now, and I'm starting to miss them, I know I see them everyday but that's different. We used to hangout like every week, just going out to eat pho'. Dude, I want some pho' now. For these past weeks, I've learned alot about my friends. I learn who my real friends are, the fake ones and the ones that I can get annoyed by...really fast. But they're always there for me, and I'm glad to have them. Speaking of friends, I'm thinking about my co-workes now, how we've been together for a whole year now and Make-It is going to end. I'm going to miss them alot. I shared alot of memories with them. Good, funny, sad memories we've all been there with each other. I'm glad to have my co-workers in my life, and of course my bosses.

Infrared goggles

Nou had been working on Infrared goggles, a new project that she started. And so I decided to help her with it. I know that Travis will be happy, since he love Infrared goggles. Hey, haven't seen him for the longest time. Yeap. Anyway, infrared goggles are hard to understand. As I 'm teaching the kids on the floor, I'm learning something new each time. Rachel taught me a new current science news. The one about the stars, I don't get it at all. I don't get how infrared goggles have to do with the story. The other story that Rachel told me is about how scientist use infrared goggles to see bats. She said that infrared goggles see the heat of light and sun and like the sun, that bat have heat too, so using the infrared goggles you can see thier heat. The color of the heat is red. At first I knew nothing about infared goggles but as I keep on doing them, I learn alot and I hope I'll be able to remember this. Infrared goggles are amazing.

Mai Kou's break and vending machine

WOW! I haven't been in here for a while, and to tell the truth I kinda miss this. Yeap I do. Over the three weeks that we didn't work, I stayed home a lot, doing nothing. I was missing work, and I grew tired just staying home. Before we were of to break, we had our "Secret Santa", where we each drew name and whoever name we got we brought them present. We had a party with pizza and Mike's grandma brownies. It was delicious. Thank you, Mike's grand ma for the brownies. I loved it. It was very good. After I was full, couldn't move at all, we played Jeopard. And my team, Naana, Keng and I won. It was fun, I had a great time. After that we pass out our present to each other. Liz and Rachel made each of us our own picture ornament so that we can hang it on our tree, which I did. And it looked gorgeous on that that tree. Thank you again Liz and Rachel. I loved it. My secret Santa was Nou, so I brought her a clutch. I hope she use it though. Hannah, my secret Santa got me a pair of sock/shoe slipper. Just what I wanted. I love her. And I were it all the time at home. It's really comfy. After that we went home. My three weekend I celebrated Christmas, and got many new things which I eventually love. I went shopping, went to spend 2 days and 3 nights at St. Olaf, since my sister goes there. We, my 3 sister and I went to class with her and we got to experience a day of college life feels like. And the food over there were just so DELICIOUS. We just kept on going for more and more, until we couldn't go no more. I had a lot of fun, staying over there. There's spring break to hang out over there again. Yes! I went ice skating with some of my friends and then went to eat pho. I had a great time and the pho was good. Then school started. And then work.
So for the past weeks now, the team had been working on vending machine, since we are done in June. Since we are leaving, the team agree that we should leave behind our activities in the Science Museum using vending machine.
Each of us work on each thing that had to deal with our activities and vending machine. Hannah, Kia, and I work on the vending machine history: Have vending machines been used like putting activities in before?; What has been sold in these vending machines? and Where are the vending machines located? (Stores, libraries, museums etc.). We founded a lot of informations that were useful. Then we wrote I proposal. And we finish.

What a Day!!

Mai Kou here, and today's date is December 12, 2006. Today I went on a field trip to Ceridian Corporation. It was a school job shadowing day, and I was interested in it so I sign up for it. I wasn't accepted, but I was on the number 1 on the waiting list. So one of my guy friend wasn't going so I took his place. There were about 40 people who went.
Ceridian is a company and we went to see the kind of job the employee have. We got there and they have us a big breakfast, cereal, bagels with cream, donuts, and juice. We sat down and ate our breakfast. Then speakers came and welcome us to Ceridian. They talk about what Ceridian is, what it do and more. Then the BIG boss came and he talk to us about HUMOR AT WORK, and it was hilarious. He told many funny stories, which made everybody laugh...hard. He told us that humor is important, and it's like an everyday exercise. That we should all laugh. And I agree with him.
We then went one on one with an employee in the company. My mentor was a nice lady, Lori. She's an accountant. She told us what she do, how she got here, how happy she is now and that she love this job. I thought being an accountant, you have to be up at an computer all day and do nothing but only paperwork. But after I had this experience, I learn that even though you do paperwork, the paperwork are important and that you're having fun doing them. Having the job shadowing, show me that I'm not interested in being an accountant, since I can't sit all day and do paperwork.
After the one on one we had lunch, it was delicious. We had hot dog, hamburger, salad, chips and desserts. We were given a survey to do, a tee-shirt, cd, and a book. We then said thanks to everybody and headed back to school.
This job shadowing had given me a perspective about accountant, that it's a really important job to have and you have to be serious, and from my interest I could not be on accountant, since I can't sit down and do paperwork, but I admire those who do. I have an aspect on how people working at a company is like, and maybe I would like to work in one, but I'm not sure. I'm still taking my time to think about my career. What do I want to be?

Fingerprints

On Wednesday Patricia and I did some researching on new projects that the team can do up on the floor. Liz gave us some ideas

  • telescope
  • fingerprints
  • pop-up book.
  • So then Patricia and I worked together finding out which one were easier to make. We both liked the idea of making fingerprints, so we did more research on how to make one. We found a direction that teaches us how to make fingerprints using washable stamps and a white paper, and by doing that we would find out what kind of hand we have.
Cindee told us that it would be interesting to do a project on lift fingerprints, you know like on CSI. So we found direction that taught us using, a coffe cup, some cocca, a printbrush, black papers, and tape. We tried both of our projects and it worked great. But instead of using cocca, since we don't have any we used baby power. It worked fine. So two weeks from now we will be presenting our two projects up on the floor. I"m excited. Yeap. =D.

    Micheal J. Fox

Today we watch, on Youtube, the comerical about Micheal J. Fox, and the stem cell. I never knew he had that kind of disease and I was suprise, at how much he shakes. His commerical were being crictize by Rush Limbaugh, saying that Micheal J. Fox was acting and that wasn't him. But then he said sorry. I thought this was pretty interesting, because why would one act around with their disease, and talk about such a serious problem, stem cell. We also watch Micheal J. Fox talk show with Katie, from NBC news. The interview, I thought was also very interesting.
