Outreach at Rivers
Make It went to Rivers which is which is a resistance for seniors. We had the DART seniors help us teach second and fourth grades because there were only a few of us and needed their help. It was great working with DART. They were good helpers. There was a lot of second graders and the fourth graders was a bit less. I was help teaching the new pinhole camera and I was teaching vocal cords. I was surprised that most of the second and fourth graders' first try of making their vocal cord work worked. I had a lot of fun teaching them.

What I did over my Spring Break
On Monday of my spring break I went on my job shadow with Clearance to Urban Works to meet a archieteach name Dave. He first showed us the work he and others were working on then later we met others and see what they do and what type of soft ware they use. Then we went on a tour on the building 730 which they are building right now. We were standing on the first floor while people where working then we went doen the latter to see the parking lot. I thought it was amazing of how they build buildings.
On Wednesday I came to work and learned the two technology I signed up for they were scratch and stop-motion. I learned how to use them before but I wanted to learn more about it and refresh my memory. On Friday I came back and I got into a group to got on what we learned to make up a project to present. I was with Oliver and Omar. We did our project using stop-motion. The story was someone went for a walk in the park and a ball came and hit him on the head and knock him into the lake. Batman and a zebra was fighting in the back but what wasn't the point of the main idea. Someone came to help the person in the lake and they shook hands then a UFO came and took the person who save the person from drowning. I enjoyed working with my group and watching other groups work.

Snow on the ground
Last Wednesday after we, Make It team was done putting our materials together for the week we had a snow ball fight. Everyone was having fun. No one got hurt. I was taking pictures because I don't like to play in the snow. Its cold and I don't like to get wet. I enjoyed my team playing around. The pictures I took wasn't much good because some of them were bury due to myself being too far away from my team. After playing in the snow we went inside to talk about Thursday which was a outreach we were going to do at Museum Magnet but was cancel due to the snow on that day. After work everyone went home. I enjoy the end of the day because of the fun and team work we do together as a team.

African American Day
We the Make It team was not on the floor today because of the African American today that which we didn't have a space to teach visitors. We went around to check things out. First we stopped by a man he was talking about good soil and bad soil. I learned what if the sand was too sandy and soft it was not good to build a building there because the building will sink in. If the ground is rocky that means it is good to build a building because the building can't sink in. I never knew this before until now. The second stop was the firefighters. Kia, John, and Isabell (sorry if I spell your name wrong) put on the firefighters suit. I learned that if their is a fire they only have three minutes to get into their suit and grab everything they need and get into the fire truck. When they are in the fire truck they buckle up their suit and put on everything else. After that we walk around most more and then went to take our break. After the break we went to go see Voices. I thought it was good. I learned a lot of what other teenagers like me think of race.

What a Infrared day
On Saturday Feb. 3rd of 2007 Make It team was up on the three exhibit floor like every Saturday. One of the project was the infrared tube which was made up with blue and red special see through papers, toilet rollers, tape, and construction papers; black, purple, and blue. The difficult part of making the infrared tube with the visitors was taping the two blue and one, red special see through papers on the toilet roll. As Make It continued making infrared tubes it got a bit easier for Make It to tape the special see through papers taped on to the toilet roll and help the visitors. It wasn't much of a busy but was just right for them to teach their visitors at their tables.

RACE Exhibit
Today, Jan. 20th of 2007 Naana, Mai Khou, and I went to the Race exhibit after teaching rubber bands boats to the vistors. We saw many interesting things there like the pictures of many people with different backgrounds. I read a few captions but I don't remember what I read but I remember Naana was tellig me that we have the skin color we have because of where we came from. It was crowed in the exhibit but I had saw most of the things there. We played with the puppets, blocks with a picture of a person, and played the matching game. I ended up winning the game. It was nice for me to go see the exhibit with my coworkers.

Saturday and more
Last Saturday I was up on the third floor exhibit teaching Balloon Power Cars with Mike and John. There were a lot of kids that came by and it was hard for me to try to help everyone who wanted to make one. All of the kids there could blow their balloon I was glad I didn't get had to do that for them. I had fun teaching them. This coming up Saturday we are going ice skating downtown. I'm excited about it because it's going to be my first time ice skating. I hope I don't fall on the ice.
Today we had a new person who is going to work with us. Her name is Rachel, she took over Travis job after he left the Make It team to the teacher learning center. She looks very friendly. I haven't talked to her yet but I will.
The Science Museum is close for now because workers are cleaning up Body Worlds. After Body World is gone Race is going to be here in January.

The Last weekend of Body Worlds
Today is the day before Body Worlds is over. There are a lot of people getting tickets. Last night I was watching 9 News and Science Museum was on there. They said a lot of tickets have had sold and if people are going to buy tickets they should buy online because the box office is very busy. Many of the morning and evening tickets are sold but there are still night tickets.
The Make It team are up on the third floor as always on Saturdays. We have three projects going on because we know there are going to be a lot of people today. I thought the place was going to be pack but it wasn't. Some of the children or adults tried all of our projects. I enjoyed my day of teaching people. They were nice people and thank us after they're done with our project.Nou X – December 2, 2006 – 3:17pmlogin to post comments
Cindee's Talk
While the Make-It Team were up stairs on the third floor exhibit Mai Khou, Cindee, and I talked about Hmong people, other people, and environment. Cindee asked us why are people up on the mountains are small. We didn't know so she said because mountains are high up and there are not that much oxygen to breath in. If they have a big body it'll be hard for them to take in a lot of oxygen to go though their body. We talked about the east that there are not a lot of nutrition so they are small and short.
