I know what your thinking what is a fruit band right? well A fruit band consists of the band members which are Grapefruit hes lead guitarist and then theres Apple lead vocals and potato, lime, kiwi, sweet potato, orange, tomato, and Lemon well there instruments are crickets and you stick two paper clips i the fruit and program the cricket so when ever you move the paper clip in and out of the fruit it makes a different noise!!the fruit that worked the best was the grapefruit because it was the biggest!! so yeah our fruit band is playing in battle of the foods this Friday so why not come and see it!!just kidding!!!!

What a Day!!

Mai Kou here, and today's date is December 12, 2006. Today I went on a field trip to Ceridian Corporation. It was a school job shadowing day, and I was interested in it so I sign up for it. I wasn't accepted, but I was on the number 1 on the waiting list. So one of my guy friend wasn't going so I took his place. There were about 40 people who went.
Ceridian is a company and we went to see the kind of job the employee have. We got there and they have us a big breakfast, cereal, bagels with cream, donuts, and juice. We sat down and ate our breakfast. Then speakers came and welcome us to Ceridian. They talk about what Ceridian is, what it do and more. Then the BIG boss came and he talk to us about HUMOR AT WORK, and it was hilarious. He told many funny stories, which made everybody laugh...hard. He told us that humor is important, and it's like an everyday exercise. That we should all laugh. And I agree with him.
We then went one on one with an employee in the company. My mentor was a nice lady, Lori. She's an accountant. She told us what she do, how she got here, how happy she is now and that she love this job. I thought being an accountant, you have to be up at an computer all day and do nothing but only paperwork. But after I had this experience, I learn that even though you do paperwork, the paperwork are important and that you're having fun doing them. Having the job shadowing, show me that I'm not interested in being an accountant, since I can't sit all day and do paperwork.
After the one on one we had lunch, it was delicious. We had hot dog, hamburger, salad, chips and desserts. We were given a survey to do, a tee-shirt, cd, and a book. We then said thanks to everybody and headed back to school.
This job shadowing had given me a perspective about accountant, that it's a really important job to have and you have to be serious, and from my interest I could not be on accountant, since I can't sit down and do paperwork, but I admire those who do. I have an aspect on how people working at a company is like, and maybe I would like to work in one, but I'm not sure. I'm still taking my time to think about my career. What do I want to be?

My Day Today and Over Christmas Break

Today I found out that my fundraiser stuff for ROTC will be coming this Thursday and I'm really excited. The reason I'm excited is because I bought some things for my mom and grandma for Christmas as well as something for myself. Today we(Make-it) got to meet Rachel and she seems pretty nice. I think that it will be nice to get to know her and work with her. Today we also cleaned out all of the project boxes since last Saturday was our last day up on the floor for this session. This Sunday my grandparents, my mom, my brother(Billy) and I are all going to Delano to celebrate Christmas on my grandpas side of the family. Next Wednesday for the secret Santa thing, I'm going to bring some of my grandma's famous brownies. The reason I say famous is because everyone who eats one loves them. On Christmas day, my grandparents are coming over to my house and celebrate Christmas over there. Finally on December 30, we will go to my aunt Kim's house to celebrate Christmas on my grandma's side of the family. This Saturday I think that it's going to be fun when we go ice-skating but I don't know what I'm going to do because I don't know how to ice-skate. Well until next time this is Big B signing off.

Saturday, December 9th was a success!

Last Saturday, the whole Make it Team went up to the floor and did four different projects:finger prints, balloon powered cars, rubber band powered boats, and thaumotropes. It was way more successful than how it was when Body World was still opened. Despite all the remarks on how its a "Ghost Town." "Its like crickets on the exhibit floors." "Deserted." The team worked hard and pulled it off with double the amount of projects needed to be made before we could all go skating this coming Saturday. Our Rubber band powered boats were really popular among the visitors, which was really good, so was the Balloon powered cars.

We mostly just cleaned up the project boxes and rearranged the things around to create more space for storage in the YSC. We putted the things that we weren't using anymore back into Ed Storage. Our project boxes are really clean and neat now. Also we got to meet our new Team Leader, Rachel, she seems cool. But Travis will always be a part of the team even though he is no longer with us.

I can't wait until we go skating on Saturday!

Saturday and more

Last Saturday I was up on the third floor exhibit teaching Balloon Power Cars with Mike and John. There were a lot of kids that came by and it was hard for me to try to help everyone who wanted to make one. All of the kids there could blow their balloon I was glad I didn't get had to do that for them. I had fun teaching them. This coming up Saturday we are going ice skating downtown. I'm excited about it because it's going to be my first time ice skating. I hope I don't fall on the ice.

Today we had a new person who is going to work with us. Her name is Rachel, she took over Travis job after he left the Make It team to the teacher learning center. She looks very friendly. I haven't talked to her yet but I will.

The Science Museum is close for now because workers are cleaning up Body Worlds. After Body World is gone Race is going to be here in January.
