When my art car is finished the sides will be painted like the rain forest and parrots will be standing in the windows. On the roof there will be a stand and a bigger parrot will be on it saying, “Polly wana cracker!”

My idea now is to do the rain forest but not the jungle. If I can’t make the parrot talk I will make a voice bubble come up instead of making Polly talk. I decided to change mine a little bit. Instead of Polly in the Jungle, I’m making it in its house because I don’t think a hand would be giving Polly a cracker in the wild. I looked in the DooDads box and found things to use for the bird as well as things to put in the window.

Today I made an action for my car using Legos. I made it so that something could go up and down in my art car. I also made a way for it to fit it inside my car. I learned about an axel, a gear, teeth, a crown gear, a crank, a cam, a rack gear, and what a worm gear all are.

I made my motion slant so that it could go up and down sideways. Then my motion will look like a hand going into the cage to give the bird a cracker. I connected the motor to the cricket and programmed the cricket to do what I wanted it to do. I made it go on for 13 seconds and then wait for 20 seconds. When the hand goes up it has to wait enough time for Polly to get the cracker. I made it repeat over and over 5 times. I change the onfor to 12 because it was going for too many seconds so it didn’t at the top to wait. I found out that it takes a lot of trials to figure out the right number for the wait and onfor.
I had to use a lot of different Crickets because some of them didn’t work. One didn’t work because the switch was bad. The other one was broken. Then I saved it all. |

Today I traced a poly two times and put a needle through a thread. It hurt when I pricked myself with the needle! I also drew a polly the actual size. This week I started a web page with all my notes and pictures in it. |

Today I made my hand. I connected the polly and the legos with a string. I looked at the drawing that Morgan drew for me last time. He drew polly and the cracker connected to polly.

I painted my car light gray so it will look like a cage for polly to be in. Ms. T. and I figured out how we could make bars: we’ll use skewers
and glue them across the car I think they will look like checkers.

Here I am working on my motin. |
Today I had to make a whole new motion! I had to go back and forth trying to find the right parts for it. Then I cut out a piece of paper and wrote “Polly Wana a Cracker” on it. I also cut a piece off of the cardboard (my motion platform) because it stuck out the front of my car when I put it in.

Today I put my string on to pull my car. I took a few pictures and videotaped my finished car. This is what my car looks like done.
