Windtubes and playdate thoughts

foam blocks

Hi, I just came down from helping with the windtubes on the floor. Its a busy day - Presidents day and its cold outside so lots of kids and adults here today. I've been really interested in the windtubes as a way to start to explore new ways to start with materials. My favorite right now are foam blocks - cut from foam insulation sheets.

We cut then about 11/2" to 21/2' from bigger scrap chunks.

Some time ago we visited the Minnesota Museum of American Art to look at the work of artists working with sound "Sound in Art Art in Sound"

Margaret wrote about the exhibit here: http://ltc.smm.org/pie/node/163

I was very very interested in the work by Leif Brush, a sound artist from Minnesota who collaborating with his wife created "recordings" of the sound of frost forming on a window pane.
