I made a very simple mechanism for a drawing machine. It only makes one motion -- but, like the back and forth machine, if it does it many many times, it makes an interesting drawing. I tried it both with pencils and with markers: Four drawings made with the same machine. Click on the image to see the drawings a little larger. I like the wing-like shape it makes. Drawing made with a simple spinner. During the workshop this spring, I worked with a spin art machine. This first drawing is made with watercolor, a very fine brush, and a spinner that spinned in one direction. I experimented with the speed of the motor a bit -- too slow, and it just didn't have enough power to turn the paper. Made with a spinner that goes forward and backward.
