I made a trek to Ax-Man and actually found some things there I really wanted to use (and could figure out how to use). Usually I go there and pick up tons of interesting things that I just can't figure out how I would ever use, but this time I was looking for small boxes and other containers that I could use to make diorama-like sculptures. One of the good finds were these little glass-topped metal cans. The metal is thin enough that you could cut holes for cords. There were also clear plastic boxes, but it was very tricky to make holes in them without cracking the plastic.

I tried making an insect-like creature. It's all made out of scraps of foam core and tag board. I thought by scoring and folding the foam core to make a sort of jointed body, the insect would move in an interesting way. Insect made of jointed foam core. This "bobbing" motion module would be good for making the insect move. The motor etc could be hidden in grass beneath the insect. Maybe you could blow on the grass to make the bug move?

Walking through a little parking lot in the morning, I started seeing things. Lying on the ground was a crushed bottle that from a glance seemed like something else. I picked it up, carried it with me to work, and later in the day, added a single googly eye.
