Water music: I'm trying out the prototype of a sensor board that lets you connect sensors to your computer. I'm using the Scratch program to make an animation that changes with the changes the sensors detect. I've been trying out attaching tinfoil as the material that will conduct electricity - and have used a Cricket so I can carry it to the Minnehaha Creek to dip into the running water. I also tried it under running and dripping faucets.

Days 4 and 5: Making Motion Each pair worked creating their objects and building the module that will move their light. Once the modules were built, students programmed Crickets to make their motor turn on and off, change directions... however they want it to move. nina-justin-module.jpg Nina and Justin made a machine that will move their feather towards and away from the screen, using corrugated cardboard, Lego gears, a motor and a Cricket.]

Light Play at Museum Magnet School: Day 3

Day 3: Lights and Motion Today we experimented with using several lights instead of just one. We used clusters of Christmas tree lights with 9V batteries, and multiple maglights. We also tried making the light or the objects move, back and forth, around in circles, or up and down. We decided the images look more interesting when they move. Using Crickets, motors, legos, and cardboard, we looked at examples of modules that could be used to make lights or objects move in different ways.
