Submitted by Asia W on January 25, 2008 - 11:09am.

Hello Friends! I just made this great black and white PIE calendar for 2008! It has illustrations of homemade switches on it and drawings of supplies floating all around!

Download the attachment (this file is 6.6 MB) and print the file on 8.5"x14" legal size paper. Or, you can scale the document to fit the paper size in the Printer Options tab.

Have a great year!

Squeezable circuits workhsop

Submitted by Luigi A on August 6, 2007 - 5:54pm.

Last Sunday we hosted the Squeezable Circuits workshop that we had been preparing for in the Learning Studio at the Exploratorium. Everybody had mixed reaction as to "how it went", so here's my first attempt to summarize and synthesize the day's events. We had decided to focus on taking apart and re-purposing toys, as during the development stage that seemed to be the activity that was the most engaging and "tinkering" of the ones we tried.

Squeezable Circuits Workshop

This winter, we did a Saturday workshop called "Squeezable Circuits". The kids (ten of them, 9-12 years old) made their own squeeze-triggered circuits, and then used motors, lights, buzzers, and a variety of recycled and craft materials to create creatures that came alive when you squeezed a glove. This project was inspired by California artist Bernie Lubell and work he did with Mike and Karen at the Exploratorium. The workshop lasted three hours.
