SMM Workshop: Knotting, Wrapping Folding: Crafting New Forms Break out of two-dimensions and into three while exploring the sometimes-surprising structural possibilities of paper and yarn. We’ll introduce the work of scientists, mathematicians, and artists inspired by natural, geometric, and architectural forms. I did a mini-workshop for a group of 4- and 5-year-olds using the jitterbug kits as a starting point. Or maybe the starting point was more this "city" of buildings and streets (the streets were the blue paper on the floor) that my 5-yr-old built. He wasn't interested in making "jitter bugs" but he was interested in making jitter machines that could drive around the city.
